I got off to a late start this morning. With working full time it’s been getting more and more difficult to maintain three blogs a week at the same calibre that I began with a few months ago. So as I was at work today I was considering making Mondays a little different. I wanted to borrow works from others that I have found particularly helpful for me. It might be something to make you laugh on a Monday. It may be something that’s helpful as you begin the daily grind of a work week again. It might even come in the form of a video. I’m gonna call this feature Monday Meditations and the first one is called On The Anvil. I stumbled across it a few years ago through a really difficult season. I got it from Ray Ortlund’s blog and pull it up to be encouraged from time to time. It’s a goody, so read on…and be blessed as you consider God at work in the life of a believer…it can be painful!
When God wants to drill a man
And thrill a man
And skill a man
When God wants to mold a man
To play the noblest part
When He yearns with all His heart
To create so great and bold a man
That all the world shall be amazed,
Watch His methods, watch His ways!
How He ruthlessly perfects
Whom He royally elects!
How He hammers him and hurts him
And with mighty blows converts him
Into shapes and forms of clay
Which only God can understand.
How He bends but never breaks
When his good He undertakes
How He uses whom He chooses
And with mighty power infuses him
With every act induces him
To try His splendor out —
God knows what He’s about.
